The idea for Athletes Vote Too came from Law of Athlete’s founder, Deonte Holden, who envisioned a campaign that merges sports with civic engagement. On August 23, 2024, Deonte took this vision and ran with it, sparking a movement that officially partnered with When We All Vote on October 18th. This partnership reflects a shared commitment to increasing voter turnout and raising awareness beyond the presidential election.
Why Athletes? Athletes have long been cultural icons who lead by example, and their influence reaches far beyond the sports arena. Athletes Vote Too seeks to highlight this powerful intersection of sports and civic duty, leveraging the platform of athletes to promote voter registration, education, and participation. Our goal is to inspire athletes to use their voices to engage with their communities and encourage others to vote, emphasizing that civic engagement is an ongoing commitment.
More Than Just Voting - Athletes Vote Too is not just about showing up at the polls every four years. It’s about understanding the importance of every election, from local races to national decisions, and empowering communities to address social issues through informed participation. By collaborating with sports organizations and existing community groups, we aim to strengthen the impact of voter engagement and make civic participation part of the conversation in every aspect of life.
